  • MAINTENANCE
  • Do not drag or push heavy/ sharp objects across your deck because you may scratch or cut the material. If the deck has been gouged or cut and the texture has been removed or the fiberglass exposed, call the HOA or property manager to have repairs made as soon as possible.
  • Do not put cigarette butts out under your foot as you may burn the sealer. Application of more sealer will repair unsightly cigarette burns.
  • Do not leave plants or pots directly in contact with the coating. Always keep plants and pots up off the deck to allow moisture from watering to evaporate.
  • Do not place indoor/ outdoor carpet, plastic, wood or other materials over the deck. These materials can trap water against the surface, leading to premature failure of the deck and voiding any warranties.

  • CLEANING
  • Desert Crete decking is generally cleaned with "Simple Green" (Citric Acid based) or "TSP" (Tri Sodium Phosphate) type detergent and water ony. Other household cleaners such as "409" or "Joy" dishwashing soap and "Tilex" hard water and soap scum remover will also work well.
  • The kinds of stains generally encountered on deck surfaces include white rings (hard water stains), food and beverage stains, rubber tire and heel marks, grease and oil stains.
  • Most organic stains (food, beverages, dirt, grease and oil) can be removed with detergent and water.
  • Inorganic stains such as black rubber heel marks are more difficult to remove with detergents. Solvent cleaners should generally not be used as they will remove the sealer.

  • RESEALING
  • The life cycle of CMFPS (Concrete Masonry Floor Paint and Sealer) on your deck is five years.
  • A coat of CMFPS should be applied every five years to repair UV oxidation (damage to the sealer from the rays of the sun).
  • If at any time the deck is too stained or dirty to clean, you may apply another coat of CMFPS to restore the deck to its original appearance.
